With all that is going on, we thought it would be great if we could all stay connected, even if it was virtually. So, we are going to try something different. We will host a virtual social time, take care of some Chapter business (Board Elections) and have a presentation from a long time Madison Chapter supporter, Pat Conway of IMI. There is no cost for this meeting. We hope you will join us on short notice.

After you register, we will manually email an invite to you for a Teams meeting. It will come from [email protected] If after a day or so, you don't get an email, check your junk mail, then send an email direct to that email and we'll make sure you do get it.

5:15 – 5:45 p.m. Virtual “Social Hour” and login period

5:45 – 6:00 p.m. Chapter business meeting and Board Elections

6:00 – 7:00 p.m. Presentation

Masonry Wall Flashing & Moisture Control

This course presents insight to best practices for the design, detailing, and construction of moisture management systems, with an emphasis on continuity of flashing with water/air control layers for masonry cavity walls. Key details will include: base-of-wall, opening sill and head, shelf angles, veneer material transitions, roof-to-wall interface, and top-of-wall.

Seminar Objectives

  • Learn basic moisture control strategies for masonry walls
  • Understand the multi-purposes of flashing and the importance of continuity with water/air control layers
  • Acquire proven methods to design and detail flashing systems
  • Develop an appreciation for quality flashing installations

Mr. Conway is a registered architect in Wisconsin and co-Director of IMI’s national masonry technical team, permanent faculty member of IMI’s Contractor College, a nationally accredited educational program for union mason contractors. In addition to his daily activities working with clients to use masonry successfully, Mr. Conway is a frequent national presenter, university lecturer and author on numerous masonry subjects.


IMI Introduction

Since 1970, the International Masonry Institute has been a non-profit organization conducting training for union masonry craftworkers and industry market development activities. Its mission to help designers understand masonry assemblies better and promote the continued use of conventional masonry products such as: brick, block, stone, tile, marble, terrazzo, plaster, and cement finishing.


Would you like the opportunity to do an inexpensive sales pitch to our professional members? If so, I would like to remind you, that we do offer tabletop presentations at our chapter meetings. The cost for doing a tabletop presentation is $50.00 for chapter members, and $75.00 for nonmembers. Your fee includes a table set up for you to display your products, and a chance to do a brief (10 minute max.) introduction for yourself and your products.
